This place was so much nicer than most of the hotels that I have stayed in while traveling and is definitely recommended for those who are visiting kashmir The room I had was good and most important clean including a functioning geyser, with proper heating Bukhari chimney(although in Feb it was too cold to need it). There was lots of warm bedding - the owners brought me extra in case what was on the bed was not enough. The tariff is very reasonable and includes breakfast and dinner which are taken in a dining room especially for guests. The food was abundant and very good. Hospitality home was a lovely change from basic hotels and restaurants and is highly recommended.

This was my first homestay experience. I was traveling solo. I found this listing through Google search and decided upon it based on the reviews. The location is a little away from the city centre; however I have no complaints as it was really peaceful. The room was perfect in size for a solo traveller. It was clean, with fresh linen. The bathroom was also clean. Towels, bathroom slippers, soaps were provided. Hot water was available throughout my stay despite the frequent power cuts, which is common in Kashmir (keep the water heater on as per the owner's advise). Home made meals tasted good without any excess unnecessary oil. Hot water bags were provided at night which kept me warm. Uninterrupted high speed WIFI is available. Even if there is no electricity, 1-2 points are always working to charge the mobiles (inverter backed). The hospitality was really good. Zuhoor ji took me to his uncle's houseboat (at a walking distance) and allowed me to sit there for sometime. It was a serene experience at Nigeen Lake, with a mesmerising view. I was fascinated to hear about his childhood stories of how Kashmir was then. What touched me the most was their invitation to join their family for Iftar. My visit coincided with the holy month of Ramdan. One of the evenings I was late coming from Sonamarg, yet my Iftar plate was waiting for me. It was nice to see three generations sitting together for Iftar. I also got to try the famous Kashmiri drink Kahwa here. Felt absolutely safe and comfortable here. Stayed there for 3 nights and 4 days. My package included breakfast and dinner. The homestay was packed with guests (families) which only goes on to show its popularity. Apart from Nigeen lake, there is a Cherry garden at a walking distance. I was not able to visit it due to lack of time. Please note due to Ramadan, breakfast is available only after 8 am. Overall verdict - Good value for money. Warm hospitality. If city centre is not your priority then this peaceful place is highly recommended.

"Amazing" would be a very normal word to describe this place and the host family. Zahoor bhai is an excellent, friendly and caring host. Really nice happy humble and sweet family. The first word that he said after greeting us was "welcome home"... And he proved this with his caring behaviour. His brother Riyaz Bhai took care of our travel and trips within Kashmir. He is also an amazing person and guide. We enjoyed really yummy and aromatic food and kahwa that was prepared by the ladies in the family, I call them Bhabi and Ammi. I felt like staying with relatives, and not a homestay. This experience was really nice and I wish all the very best to the family. It is highly recommended homestay honestly. Rooms are really clean and beautiful, cozy and feel like home!! Bohot bohot shukriya Zahoor bhai and Riyaz bhai!!
